The new series on Paramount Plus is based on the acclaimed novel of the same name. It follows two political staffers from the 1950s at the height of the Lavender Scare when gay men and women were fired en masse from government service jobs. The series continues through the Vietnam War in the 70s and AIDS epidemic of the 80s, charting their romance (and sex life) against these turbulent historical events.
