World Naked Bike Ride is an annual event that sees hundreds of naked people cycling throughout the city. Which city, of course, depends on where you are in the world, though you can expect to witness it (or take part) in Chicago, Vancouver, London, Amsterdam, and LA, to name a few.

According to Wikipedia: “the message of the WNBR was protesting against oil dependency and celebrating the power and individuality of the human body. In 2006, there was a shift towards simplifying the message and focusing on cycling advocacy”.

We spoke to one participant Jon, who told us why he attends WNBR.

“To me, the naked body is about freedom, and it’s one of the few ways to confront the current sexualised perception of the naked body. In addition, the environmental awareness that it raises is also important to me”.

Some people say they have definitely experienced a sexual vibe amongst certain people, but Jon tells us that he didn’t witness or feel that at all. So we’d imagine that the majority are not there to cruise. But where there’s a wheel, there’s a way (sorry, couldn’t resist that one).

So if you like the thought of being bare in public and making a statement regarding our planet’s climate crisis, then pop your pants off and hop on a bike. Although, we did see a Boris Bike in one of these pics… Um, sir, we hope you wiped that down afterward.
