Ever have those times when you feel like you just dodged a bullet?
Well that was quite literally the case for Jerard Kluting when he came face-to-face with an armed robber who demanded his Louis Vuitton bag. Kluting, who was sashaying through Michigan at 5pm, when a thug pulled the weapon out in pursuit of fashion.
Anyone else getting flashbacks…?
Although, unlike Carrie, this man was willing to take a bullet for his labels. The gunman fired three shots; two alleged as warnings and one Kluting claims was aimed at him.
“It happened very fast. In one motion he took the gun out of his waist belt and with the other hand put up a bandana over his mouth and pointed, was like, ‘Give me your bag. I was like, ‘You’re not getting my Louis Vuitton.’ I worked very hard for this and this bag I’ve had forever and it means a lot to me. I wasn’t about ready to relinquish it to some thug that was going to demand it from me.”
I mean, props to him for being a sassy queen while looking down the barrel. But no way would I be trading my life for some material.
“I paid $1,700 for it or thereabouts…I love Louis Vuitton and I saw this bag long before I could buy it and I saved up my money to buy it. It means a lot to me…It represents me. I wasn’t about to relinquish my personal property.”
Personally, I think Anna Wintour should run a feature on people who are willing to die for fashion – lit-er-ally! Or Mr. Vuitton should send him a shit load of free stuff just to add a little valuation to his life.
He concludes: “As my grandmother would say, if you’re born to hang, you’ll never drown.
“I got my bag. He can pry it out of my cold dead hands.”
The 21 year-old attempted mugger has since be caught and arrested. We think it’s safe to say he won’t be wearing – or carrying – and Louis while behind bars.
