There was time when Oktoberfest conjured images of burly drunk Germans in braces, but honey, this is 2019 and times have changed. Pink Oktoberfest is the LGBTQ version where drag queens will lip-sync for their Lederhosen, present game shows and rave out on tabletops. Sounds like a perfect cure for our festival blues.

The Surrey Quays venue will be decked out like an authentic Barvarian beer hall with traditional food stalls, over a hundred wooden benches, live music and entertainment, and hopefully a few German sausages. The food stalls cater to vegan, halal, kosher and gluten-free. So there’s something for every taste, including champagne and cocktail tents for those on a stable liquid diet.

Rebecca Paisis, founder of Pink Oktoberfest said: “Pink Oktoberfest has grown into a huge success really quickly and now we are in our third year with our LGBT festival. We have a fabulous new venue and it will be the most authentic Oktoberfest event for the LGBTQ+ community and its allies.”

And if it’s anything like THIS Oktoberfest, then we’ll be there with bells on… (and balls out).

Pink Oktoberfest is on 12th Octoberber 4pm to 11pm at Dock X, Unit 1, Canada Water Retail Park, Surrey Quays Rd SE16 2XU. Tickets £15.
