OK, so it usually takes quite a lot to blow our mind, but what if The Little Mermaid wasn’t actually the tale of two soul-mates separated by the restrictions and prejudices of two species (totally not dissimilar from Romeo & Juliet). But, what if the story actually stems from a real life heartache?
But, what this does however highlight, is that not everything is as glum as it first appears. With enough creativity, you can take one shattering experience of unrequited love, change the rejection to a wedding and then monopolise on that shit for Lord knows how many millions.
