International treasure and beloved Golden Girl Betty White is turning up for her 100th birthday on 17th January.
The actress, who “no longer travels by air” due to her age, is making her birthday a watchable event across American theatres.
The documentary will air on 17th at selected theatres, and will include guest appearances from: Ryan Reynolds, Tina Fey, Robert Redford, Clint Eastwood, Morgan Freeman, Jay Leno, Carol Burnett, Jimmy Kimmel, Jennifer Love Hewitt, and of course… James Corden.
“We didn’t want this day to pass without bringing together all the people that love her, from her co-stars and friends to her many millions of fans of all ages, to celebrate her 100th birthday with an entertaining and loving look at what makes Betty a national treasure,” filmmaker Steve Boettcher said.
White is a popular figure among queer men – not just for her appearance on the now cult-classic Golden Girls – but for being an LGBTQ ally in real-life too; coming out in support of gay marriage.
Speaking to Frontiers about why she has a strong bond with the gays, White previously said: “Throughout my career, I’ve always portrayed characters that were humorous, but also weren’t afraid to speak their minds, especially when it came to racy or controversial topics… I think this struck a chord with the LGBT community.
