Last week, we reported an account of one man who attended Miami’s Winter Festival and then tested positive for COVID-19, claiming it was the “most incredible” pain he’s ever felt.
Now it’s been reported that another attendee from the festival has been Miami’s first death relating to the virus. Israel Carreras, who was just 40-years-old, developed a severe cough and loss of voice before the diagnosis was confirmed last Monday (23rd).
Israel’s partner couldn’t see his boyfriend in his last days, and even during FaceTime the pair were left only with sign language to communicate because Israel had lost his voice.
The Winter Party takes place every year on Miami’s beachfront, and sees tens of thousands of partiers descend on South Beach from across the globe.
