WORDS: Cameron Roffey

Tailoring. It really is a beautiful thing. The way that we can buy tailored garments, yet we do not have to be draped in measuring tapes and a mock-up suit is remarkable. If you ever want to make your outfit look more expensive, one surefire way is to inject some tailoring elements into it. Whether that be with a blazer that fits you really well, or my trend spot of the week, tailored shorts. After the weather we have had recently, where the temperature has actually gone into double figures, shorts are definitely in. Yet, looking around, you notice one thing. The shorts are getting shorter and more tailored.

H&M – £9.99

They are 100% cotton and come in dark blue, beige or light red. I believe the dark blue is the pair to go for as they will go with anything, be that a smart patterned shirt or a slouchy jumper.

short-boohoo

Boohoo.com – £15

I’m not usually a fan of boohoo.com, but I was pleased to see a great selection of items, starting from a low price point. Available in either grey or blue, I would chose blue, as these shorts have a sense of fun about them. This is primarily due to the way that they have leopard print turn-ups. This little detailing adds a talking point to your already on-trend shorts.

ASOS – £22

This cheeky little pair of shorts are from ASOS. Yes, they may look blue (again?) but they are actually indigo. The polka dot material is perfect for keeping casual with a white T or dressing up with a crisp white shirt and loafers. Steal the style of the model with a belt of contrasting colour to add panache to your look.

Massimo Dutti – £44.95

Massimo Dutti, those experts of understated cool have these raspberry Bermudas for sale. The cotton and linen mix will help you keep cool in the summer, and the colour will add a pop to any outfit. These are another very versatile piece, to become a staple of your summertime wardrobe. I live in hope that ones behind will look as good as the models when putting them on.

shorts-reiss

REISS – £65

My personal favourite, and contrary to what my friends might say not because they are the most expensive, are this pair of shorts from Reiss. They have that sense of innocence, due to the rose colouring, the versatility due to their length and quality due to Reiss’s designers. Team with white converse to dress them down, or leather brogues for a more formal affair.
